Someone told me I look like Superman the other day. While I want to say that it's becasue of the super powers, having a super-fine damsel hanging on an arm, and a physique that looks like it was chiseled on God's anvil, I've got to acquise that it was probably based on two things: the hairstyle and the fact that Superman was a reporter. Well, Clark Kent is acutally the reporter, so maybe he would have been a better comparison.
Like Kent, I'm a reporter. I'm currently an intern at Dawson Community Newspaper in Dawsonville, Georgia. I'm the assitant News Editor at The Colonnade, GCSU's student newspaper, and I freelance for Lake Oconnee Living magazine in Eatonton, Ga. I write fiction/non-fiction in my own time with nutty ideas of turning my stories into books and sometimes I'm silly enough to delude myself into believing that being a novelist could take me somewhere.
Depite the pennilessness that I'm setting myself up for, I wouldn't want to do anything different. I love to write. I love to share stories. I love finding interesting people, events and especially places, and sharing them with the world. So, I'd thought this blog could be kinda about that. For those younger than me wanting to go into the same field, let this be the "Ok, you go first," moment you expereince before you take that powdery plunge. I'll try and lay out a road map of how to get into the writing field as it happens to me so it's timely and helpful (hopefully). For those my age, gear up! Looks like we're gonna be going through this avalanche together! Should be a hell of a time. For those older than me, have a good laugh as you watch the young, inexperienced wanna-be take the hard way down, but feel free to ski out and throw me a line sometimes. I promise it will be appreciated.
Here we go!
